Three downhill ski facilities, miles and miles of groomed cross-country trails, ice skating, tobogganing, and an abundance of snowmobiling access, make the county a winter wonderland.

Southeastern Michigan is one of the few metropolitan areas in the U.S. that support four major sport teams. The Detroit Pistons (Little Caesar's Arena), Detroit Tigers (Comerica Park), Detroit Lions (Ford Field), and Detroit Red Wings (Little Caesar's Arena) are less than an hour's drive away. Major college sports (University of Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor and Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing) are also just an hour to an hour-and-a-half away. Southeastern Michigan is serviced by three major airports: Oakland County International Airport, Detroit Metro Airport, and Bishop International Airport.
